Miss Pillai - 04 Jul 2025

Well done year 4 for completing another week!

This week in English, we have planned our biography. The children used chrome books to research about Tutankhamun’s life and they were given a planning sheet to write done this information. We also wrote our first draft where we edited the work to make sure we used possessive apostrophes and contraction. We have also started writing our final draft.

In maths, we started our position and direction topic. The children learnt how to describe position-using co-ordinates, plot co-ordinates, draw 2D and 3D shapes, translate shapes on a grip and describe translation on a grid.

In R.E, the children learnt about different ceremonies that mark the journey of people’s lives, specifically weddings. We looked at Christian, Jewish and Hindu weddings. The children described what happened in each wedding and drew a lovely picture of each one.

In shared reading, we have continues reading secrets of a sun king and focussed on different word types within the text such as; adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions and determiners.

In history, we learnt about the hierarchy of ancient Sumer. We discussed the different roles people had during this time and the children wrote a diary entry as one of the people in the hierarch e.g. as a slave, king, priest or lower class person.

In science we have carried on with our slinky topic for science week, children created their own slinks using paper and tested out which one worked the best.

We were also very lucky to watch the piano concert this week where the children showcased their amazing piano skills. We were all very proud of their hard work!

As always, please continue to read and play TTRS 5 times a week. Have a lovely weekend!
