Miss Pillai - 25 Apr 2025

Well done year 4 for completing your first week back!

In English, we have started learning the skills needed to write a setting description. The children have recapped fronted adverbials and similes and practiced these skills in their English lessons.

In maths, we have continued with our decimals topic. We have focussed on how to make a whole with tenths, hundredths and how to partition decimals.

In Shared reading, we have started our new book called ‘secrets of a sun king’. We have read the first chapter. We have used our prediction skills to predict what we think will happen in the text from looking at the front cover and blurb. We have practiced our inference and sequencing skills as well using the text.

In Art, we have started our new topic called ‘Vista’; this topic is all about landscapes. The children created their own viewfinders, went out into the playground, and chose a perspective from the viewfinder that they though was interesting. They then sketched this using lines and shapes to highlight any different patterns, textures and colours.

In computing, we have started a new computing topic focussing on connecting network. The children have learnt how to describe the internet as a network of networks and demonstrate how information in shared across the internet.

In geography, we have continued with our topic misty mountains and winding rivers. The children havw created their own rap/song about mountains. They were given a sheet with key information and rhyming words to help them. They then performed this at the end of the lesson.

The children have also gone to meet the chicks in reception, which they enjoyed a lot :)

As always, please continue to read 5 times a week and play on TTRS for 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
