Miss Sardar - 15 Mar 2025
It has been a great week in year 3!
English
This week in English the pupils have identified the key features of a setting description and pupils have started writing sentences using the 5 senses, based on the book 'Gregory Cool'. Next week the pupils will complete work on prepositions and similes.
Maths
This week in maths we started our new topic 'Mass and Capacity'. Pupils have began to measure in grams and kilograms.
Geography
This week we have continued to research about different rocks and volcanoes. We have looked at the different types of volcanoes- Active, Dormant and Extinct.
Assessment Week
Next week is assessment week. Pupils will have assessments on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Practise papers have been sent out to pupils so please do use these at home so pupils feel prepared.
Monday - Spelling and Grammar and punctuation.
Tuesday - Reading paper (comprehension)
Wednesday - Maths reasoning and arithmetic.
School Trip
Thank you to all parents that volunteered for the school trip. Your class teacher will inform you if you were chosen from the hat. I'm certain there will be other opportunities for you to volunteer in the future.
TTRS and Reading
Please ensure you are accessing TTRS at least 5 times a week. This will help improve your child's confidence in maths and assessment week. Please also ensure you are reading with them 5 times a week and asking them questions about the story they are reading as this can increase their understanding and help them with their reading assessment.
