Miss pillai - 07 Mar 2025

Well done year 4 for a brilliant week at school. We have had a very busy week this week.

In English, we have used our key skills of adverbs and imperative verbs in a persuasive poster for a toy we invented. We have also watched a demonstration of Turkish Delight being made and have ordered the steps to help us next week when writing our instructions.

In maths, we have focused on converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa. We have also started to discuss equivalent fractions using a number line.

In shared reading, we have continued with our core text (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), focusing on vocabulary and inference questions as well as the effect of certain events on the reader.

In science this week, we created a circuit using cells, light bulbs and wires. We then tested different objects in this circuit to see if the light bulb would continue to light up. When the light bulb lit up, we knew this item was an example of a conductor, if it did not light up, we knew this was an insulator.

In geography this week, we looked at Google Earth and followed the River Trent to see its route. We looked for different features along the river (bridge, source, meander, town and floodplain) and decided whether these were human or physical features.

We had a great day celebrating World Book Day and enjoyed making the front cover of our favourite book to join our reading river.

As always, please continue to read and play on TTRS for 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Have a lovely weekend.
