Assessment Summary

Our Approach to Assessment
With the New National Curriculum being introduced from September 2014, the method of assessment has undergone a transition. We are monitoring pupil progress by following the National Curriculum and beginning a process of standardisation, in respect of Age Related Expectations. In 2016 results are based on Year 6 outcomes. Children either achieve the expected standard in the assessed area or they do not. These results are then maeasured against a National Average of pupils that reached the new expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics.
- We monitor and assess pupil progress through our own internal assessment and moderation processes.
- We also monitor and assess our pupil’s progress through school to school moderation with a number of schools locally.
- We use the outcomes of the assessments to summarise and analyse attainment and progress for their pupils and classes.
- The data is used to plan the learning for every pupil in order to ensure they meet or exceed expectations.
- Teachers and leaders analyse the data across the school to ensure that pupils identified as vulnerable or at particular risk are making appropriate progress and that all pupils are suitably challenged.
- The information from assessment is communicated to parents and pupils during parent’s evenings and via the pupil’s end of year report.
