Reception Aut 2 Week 2

Miss Skelton - 08 Nov 2022

This week we have been learning how to play dominos.  We have been recognising 1, 2 and 3 dots on the dominos, and adding the total of the dots up.  We have been looking at one more and one less in the number range 0-3 and also practising forming these numbers correctly.

In phonics we have been learning w, x, z, qu, th and next week we will learn ch, ng, nk.  We are going to complete a phonics assessment next Monday afternoon to re-group the children now they have had the opportunity to learn all of the single sounds and begin to sound out words.

In science, we completed the diet coke and menthos experiement where we observed a chemical reaction.  It was very exciting and we recorded the experiment with a drawing and some writing in our topic books.  In topic, we are talking about 'What happens when we fall asleep?" and bedtime routines this week and next.  We will be learning about animals that come out at night, and even see what happened when our teachers went on a night time walk!
