Week 5
03 Feb 2022
Hello all, we have had a productive week in Year 2.
Maths
This week in Maths, the children have been learning how to divide and use the division symbol. They have been learning to work out divisions by grouping, sharing amounts and using a number line to count up in groups of 2,s 5s 3s, and 10s. Please continue to practise timestables at home as, from this week, we will be testing weekly in class too.
We have been using an app called 1 Minute Maths in class. This is free to download from the app store or the google play. It has short focussed questions around different areas of the KS1 maths curriculum. Lots of children were excited about using this today and wanted me to share the details with parents!
English
This week we have focussed on poetry. The children learned a poem called 'What is pink?' They really enjoyed coming up with actions to help them remember the poem by heart. They then took inspiration from this poem to come up with their own rhymes to match the different colours. We put all of our ideas together to create a class poem. You can read it below - we hope you enjoy it!
What is pink?
What is Pink? A flamingo is pink
That makes you think.
What is red? Blood is red.
Without it, you will be dead!
What is blue? A toy is blue
That is really expensive and new
What is white? The moon is white
How it glows in the dark night.
What is green? The grass is green
Where the snails live between.
By Year 2 😊
