Summer 2 week 2
18 Jun 2021
English
This week we have been completing reading assessments. It has been wonderful to hear the progress in children's reading and comprehension skills this week. The children have been publishing the first part of their narrative, Bubbles, after writing a fantastic opening to their stories. They have also been learning about compound nouns, creating nouns with suffixes, and applying these in their writing.
Maths
I have been very proud of the children this week in maths. They have been introduced to a completely new skill, column method for addition and subtraction. They have showed a good undersanding of exchanging and regrouping by using base 10. The children have also been continuing to tell the time to the nearest five minutes, some of them are becoming skilled at telling me the time throughout the school day!

The weather has been its wonderful British self this week, with a scorching hot start and a miserable rainy end! Could you please ensure that children come to school with their caps on warm days, as we cannot take them out onto the field at lunch times if they are not protected from the Sun. Suncream should also be applied in the morning when they have P.E.
