Home Learning Week 2
01 Apr 2020
Hi all!
I hope you are all keeping safe and healthy at home. One thing that has brightened my day is opening my emails this week and seeing all of the lovely activities you have been doing at home. I am going to upload them today, but please feel free to continue to email and I will add the photos to this post!
Some children have been using previous holidays and trips as inspiration for writing. Where has been your favourite place to visit? Could you research more about it and write an informative leaflet about it? Other children have been using live webcams on zoo websites in their learning. I will leave some links for these below the pictures with some ideas to go with it! It has been lovely to see such a range of activities taking place at home - from drawing, to creating, to cooking to maths and writing. Parents - it looks like you are doing a fantastic job and, most importantly, your children are looking safe and happy.

Zoo websites:
Edinburgh Zoo has live webcams of:
- Tigers
- Penguins
- Rock hooper penguins
- Koalas
- Giant Pandas!
Edinburgh zoo are also suggesting you visit their youtube page, as they have lots of videos on there to watch also!
Dublin Zoo has live webcams of:
- Penguins
- Elephants and the African Savanna (rhinos and giraffes)
Once you have watched a webcam, why not research more about your chosen animal? You could produce an information text including:
- A picture of your chosen animal as an adult and as a baby. Can you find out what they are called as babies?
- Your favourite facts about the animal.
- Your chosen animal's natural habitat.
- Your chosen animal's food chain.
You could present your informatio in many different ways - a poster, a leaflet or even a create a mini non fiction book.
