Miss Pillai - 14 Feb 2025

Well done year 4 for your last week of Spring 1!

In maths, we have concluded our length and perimeter topic by finding missing lengths in shapes and applying our knowledge to finding perimeters of regular and irregular polygons.

In English, we have finished our final draft of our newspaper. We wrote about the Battle of Hastings, including our key skills of the 5 Ws and inverted commas.

In shared reading this week, we have analysed key parts of our core text, including the first sentence of a chapter, considering the impact this has on a reader.

In science this week, we used a range of materials to create the best soundproofing ear-defenders. We discussed which materials would be the best at blocking sound and why.

In history this week, we applied our knowledge of the Normans and discussed their impact on English lives. We presented this information in a powerpoint.

In DT, we developed our skills by sewing a hem on a piece of fabric.

We have also spent time discussing ‘Safer Internet Day’ and how we can stay safe online, looking at types of scams and what to do if something doesn’t look right.

Please remember, our first day back in school (Tuesday 25th February) will be back to swimming as usual. Our electrical workshop will now be on Wednesday 26th February.
