Miss Pillai - 24 Jan 2025

Well done year 4 for a brilliant week at school!

In English, we have been writing and editing our diary entry based on our picture book – Flotsam, where we went to a beach and found an underwater camera with sea life pictures on! We have been focusing on our skills of time adverbials and past progressive tense.

In maths, we have continued our learning about 2 and 3 digit numbers multiplied by a 1 digit number, we have now extended this to look at 2 digit numbers divided by 1 digit numbers. Next week we will come to the end of our ‘multiplication and division’ topic and will begin working with length and perimeter.
In shared reading this week, we have continued to read our core text; ‘the lion, the witch and the wardrobe’. We focused on retrieval skills and applied this to assessment style questions to become more familiar with the format.

In history this week, we learned about the Battle of Hastings, we created part of a Bayeux Tapestry and went outside to re-enact the battle.

In art this week, we developed our clay skills, focusing on making different shapes and blending the clay together. We made a Bankura Horse from our clay and will be painting this next week.

In science, we looked at how sound travels through different objects, focusing on pitch and sound and how this can vary between items.

Please continue to read and play TTRS 5 times a week, for a minimum of 5 minutes a time. Reads should be recorded in reading records.

Enjoy your weekend!
