Miss Pillai - 10 Jan 2025

Well done year 4 for the first week back! You have worked extremely hard and we’re are very proud of the work that you have produced this week

In English we have started our new ‘wordless’ book Flotsam. We ‘read’ the book and children included any questions they had onto our working wall. We have also started learning key skills that are needed to write a diary entry. Children have practiced using past progressive tense within their writing.
In science this week, we have started our new topic sound. We learnt about vibration, children had different stations detetcting different vibrations from different materials.

In shared reading this week, we have started our new book ‘The lion, the witch and the wardrobe.’ They have loved reading the first few chapters so far and used their prediction and retrieval skills to answer questions.
In Maths this week, we have been working on factor pairs, multiplying by 10 and 100. They have worked very hard with their maths skills this week.

In history this week, we have started our new topic 1066. Children chose one of the challenger’s to Harold’s claim to the throne to research about (William, Duke of Normandy; Harald Hardrada, the King of Norway; and Edgar the Atheling, King Edward’s nephew). They then presented their case to be the next king as one of the challengers.

In Art, we have started our new topic ‘animal’. This week children used their sketching skills to draw different animals using shapes to help them.

Have a lovely weekend; ensure you carry on with your TTRS and reading!
