Miss Pillai - 22 Nov 2024

Well done year 4 for a brilliant week at school. We have had a very ‘science-heavy’ week, completing many experiments. We started our week by looking at teeth and their different functions, we used mirrors to look at the teeth in our mouth and count them. We then continued this by trying a tasting lesson where we bit into different foods to see which teeth we were using. We finished our science lessons by learning about tooth decay and how to keep our teeth healthy. We made our own toothpaste (how it used to be made) and taste-tested it ourselves! We also started an experiment where we placed eggs into different liquids to see what would happen to the shells to represent what happens to our teeth. These results will be ready to observe on Monday.

In English, we have finished our persuasive letter and have started next topic of setting descriptions. We began by each creating a different building that is on Lizard Street (from our core text, Krindlekrax). In the coming weeks, we will be writing a setting description of the street focusing on our senses and creating an atmosphere with the vocabulary choices we use.

In maths, we have been continuing with our ‘multiplication and division’ topic and, so far, have learnt our 3s, 6s, 9s, and 7s. To support this learning at home, children should be playing on Timestable Rockstars for a minimum of 5 minutes a times for 5 days a week.

In music, we have started our new song; ‘The Pink Panther Theme’. We started our topic by playing an instrument in time with the beats from the song. We found ways to make different sounds with the instruments.

Have a fantastic weekend, please keep up with your reading and timestable rockstars!
