Ms Kintu - 24 Oct 2024

English
This week in English we have been learning how to use inverted commas for direct speech and practising our dictionary skills to find words and their meanings . The children enjoyed creating dialogue between the stone age boy and one of the main characters from the book, Om, and they enjoyed putting words in alphabetical order.

Maths
In maths this week the children have been learning how to add numbers across 10s and across 100s using exchanging. When we return we will be doing column subtraction for two 3 digit numbers with exchanging.

Diwali
On Monday the whole took part in Diwali afternoon. Mrs Degun and Mrs Shah delivered an assembly for KS1 and KS2 where the children learnt more about Diwali. In the afternoon Year 3 created Rangoli patterns using tissue paper which was a fun time for all!

French
This week we completed our french unit. Children have become more confident in the french alphabet, practising their french vowel sounds and have enjoyed playing games to discover words including french cities and worldwide countries.

Computing
This week we enjoyed an afternoon of computing where we used scratch to create a background. We then added in one or more characters from our book for this half term - stone age boy. Many children chose to add a bear or a reindeer as these were key moments in the book. We then added speech and movement to complete our stone age scene.

Notices
Please make sure you're reading with your child 5 times a week so we can regularly change their levelled book. Please remember to only write the levelled book in the reading record as only these will count towards their reads.

Children should be accessing TTRS 5 times a week - if you are having any difficulties accessing this please speak to the class teacher.

Have a lovely half term break!
