Spring 2 Week 3

Miss Booth - 22 Mar 2024

Thank-you to all who attended the Parental Consultation meetings this week. It was fantastic to share the progress the children have been making this year.

Please note, PE is on Tuesday the 26th March next week. After the Easter break it will revert back to Fridays.

After the Easter break we will begin a new topic called 'Magnificent Monarchs'.

These are this week's notices:
  • The Easter Bonnet Parade is at 2:45pm on Monday 25th of March. Children should bring their bonnets in on the morning so that staff can safely store them.
  • On Monday the 25th of March and Tuesday the 26th of March the bike lessons will begin. Children who are taking part have been made aware that this is taking place. Please ensure children have the recommended equipment with them on both days. Another opportunity for other children who were not selected at this time is being arranged for later in the year.
  • On Thursday 28th of March the school will close at 1:15pm for children for the Easter break. School will resume at 8:45am on the 15th April.
  • Key Stage 1 assessments will be taking place in late May.
  • Children who need to resit their Year 1 phonics screening assessment will do so in June.

English
We completed our non-chronological reports based on castles. We've had some wonderful and creative writing from the children. This will go a long way to helping them achieve the 'expected standard' for writing in Year Two.

Maths
This week we finished our unit based on Mass, Capacity and Temperature. Next week we will begin our Fractions block. We will start by studying wholes, parts and equal parts before moving on to finding halves, quarters, thirds and three quarters of amounts and shapes.

History
This week we looked at famous bridges from around the world. We made bridges from different resources and found local bridges on an ordinance survey map.
