English
This week in English the children finished their setting descriptions based on the text 'Journey'. This is a text the whole school have used as a writing stimulus this half term. I was so impressed at how hard the children worked to include adverbs, prepositions and a range of conjunctions in their setting descriptions. They should be very proud of themselves.

Maths
In maths this week, we have been continuing learning formal methods to multiply. The children have been practising how to use a column method to multiply a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number, including exchanging. The children also learned how to partition the 2 digit number into tens and ones, in order to multiply both parts. E.g. 24 x 2 can be worked out by doing 20 x 2 + 4 x 2. Both methods are equally worth practising at home if you wish to support further. Remember, we only multiply by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 in Year 3 maths. We have also been practising multiplying a number by ten by moving each digit one place to the left on a place value chart - not just adding a 0!

Topic
This week the children really enjoyed learning about every day life in Ancient Greece. The children chose their own area of interest, carried out research and presented their findings back to the rest of the class.
