Miss Burgess Update 11/11/22

11 Nov 2022

English
This week Year 1 have been identifying questions and statements. They have been learning to use question marks accurately. The children thought of interesting questions to ask Mr Brown to learn about how to care for Paddington Bear. Then, the children used their questions to write a letter.

Maths
In Maths, the children have been learning to add and subtract numbers. They have been using part-whole models and bar models to support them with this. They have really impressed us with their determination to overcome challenges, especially when completing word problems and missing number problems.

Other
In Science, the children have continued to learn about different materials and their properties. In Computing, they explored creating algorithms and how to debug problems they faced. Our RE focus this half term is Christianity. Last week they learned about the Christian story ‘Jonah and the Whale’ and the moral behind the story. This week they learned about symbols that are important to Christians and the story of the Good Samaritan.

Important Dates
Parental consulations- Tuesday 15th November 2022
Children in Need- Friday 18th November 2022

Please keep an eye out for a nativity letter this week which will give you further information about dates and costumes.
