Reception Summer 1 Week 2

Miss Skelton & Mrs Divall - 25 Apr 2024

This week in Reception, we started our topic Big Wide World.

We enjoyed listening to post cards from around the world. Some of the teachers had visited countries such as France, Brazil and Zambia. We read what they did on their trip and wrote our own postcards to eachother. We listened to the story All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold. We spoke about what the word 'diversity' meant. Everyone in the story was unique and special in their own way. We made a whole class colloboraitve art porjoect which can be seen in our class windows!
We looked at different climates around the world. We learnt that some parts of the world are hot, and others are cold, dry or wet. We used stick puppets and pretened to be weather forcastors!

Today, we read the story Tanka Tanka Skunk and practised copying the rhythm on African drums!

In Maths, we have contiuned our learning of numbers to 20. We have been busy
ordering and finding missing numbers to 20. We have been working super hard at making sure our numbers are formed the correct way (facing the right way round!) .
