Autumn 2 week 1

06 Nov 2023

Welcome back to a brand new half-term.

Year 4 had a brilliant first week back; they showed real dedication to their learning and their behaviour was fantastic.

In Reading, we have started our brand new novel Rumblestar. We have now read the first chapter, and the children are already gripped. They have made some great inferences about the text so far, as well as predicting the story and defining new vocabulary.

In Maths, we began (and finished) the topic of area. This was the strongest the children have been in their maths skills so far this year; they were able to count squares to measure area and compare the areas of two shapes. They all performed well in our end of unit assessment.

For our first English unit this term, the children are writing their own playscript. In order to get us ready to do so, some of the children came into school dressed as Shakespeare characters- or even Shakespeare himself! The children looked brilliant and we had a great day learning all about England's most famous playwright, and the various plays and sonnets he wrote.
