Y4 enjoy writing Poetry!

This week we have been reading poems written by the author Grace Nichols.

In literacy we have enjoyed reading a collection of poems written by one poet so that the children get to know the poets as individuals: they understand their views, their style and gain insights into the inspiration behind their poems. All this helps to bring poetry alive for the children and increases understanding and enjoyment. Finally, they will draft and write their own poems in the style of Grace Nichols.

In maths the children are able to locate 4-digit numbers on a number line and round numbers to ten, a hundred and a thousand.

We have enjoyed making paper sculptures using the technique known as quilling and the children are thrilled with the results which are really effective.

Next week will be particularly busy as we prepare for our Carols by the Fireplace.
