Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears!

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears!

Year 4 are really enjoying finding out about Ancient Rome and have made some fantastic models. We have also read the story of how Rome got its name and have written our own versions of the story of Romulus and Remus.
During literacy we have concentrated on developing our comprehension skills by identifying evidence from different parts of the text to support our inferences such as showing characters’ feelings, thoughts and motives from their actions in the story.  We are also practising punctuating speech in a text and writing a simple sentence from memory that has been dictated, thinking about our spelling, handwriting and punctuation.

In maths we have learnt about Roman numerals and can write our date of birth as Ancient Romans.  Every morning we practise our times tables and everyone is enjoying the challenge of beating their previous score. We are continuing to practise adding and subtracting up to 4 digit numbers accurately and we have the confidence to explain our working out.

Can I just remind you that we have P.E on Monday and as a safety precaution all earrings should be removed. If your child can remove their own earrings, please provide a small container into which your child could store them, this would be much appreciated as they could get easily lost. Also with the change in weather, plain black or blue tracksuits can be worn when the children are having PE outside.
