Mrs Shah update

19 May 2023

English
This week in English, we have started looking at poetry and rhyming words in the poetry. Children have really enjoyed coming up with rhyming words, they took active part in performing poetry with actions/expressions and sounds to make their performance interesting. They also created a bug poem as a group.
 Maths
In maths this week we are still on our topic fractions.
This week we looked at ‘quarters’, we learnt to recognise and find quarters of a shapes/objects and quarter of quantity. We used different resources e.g. different shape cut outs, counters and unifix cubes to help understand the concept ‘quarter’ during our lessons.
Other
In Science we looked at the animals that lived in the wild and pets
In RE, we looked at how Christians celebrate birth of a baby in the family. We learnt about Christenings/Baptism.
Finally, in Geography this week we learnt about all the continents and oceans in the world. Children really enjoyed singing continent and Ocean songs. We looked at each continents and found details about each continents i.e. how many countries in each continents, produce of the continent, climate in the continent and animals from the continent.
Have a lovely weekend!
