Week 5

05 Feb 2016

This week the children have been ‘Factfinders’ and have amazed me with their enthusiasm! The children have written many fantastic facts and are beginning to use connectives in their writing. We have a high number of children who show a real flair for writing extremely interesting information about animals.

In Maths we have been looking at odd and even numbers and doubling and halving numbers. We have used lots of practical resources and strategies to double and half numbers to 20. Our homework this week is to reinforce this learning. I’m interested to see if they can tell you what strategies they used to solve the different problems.

Again we have seen a really big improvements in the high scores of our weekly spelling tests.  Thank you for efforts on this. I can see the spellings being used more consistently in their writing.

In Science we carried out an investigation to see what materials are waterproof. We had so much fun and really developed our understanding of why some materials are waterproof and why others aren’t.

Have a lovely weekend.

Thanks for putting up the pictures Mr. Armitage. Aashna has been telling me about forming sentences & has been asking for more halving & doubling numbers for maths practice. She is really enjoying school.
