Week 6- The Wild Things have been in our classroom!

13 Oct 2016

The Wild Things from "Where The Wild Things Are" have been in our classroom! We went out for playtime and found chairs all over the place, tables turned over, writing on the whiteboard and cupboards opened. They'd even hung Lucy's umbrella from the string! We wrote descriptively all about the scene as we found it when we walked in, using our golden sentences and remembering to make our sentences longer using the words "and" and "because". We just hope the Wild Things don't come back again.

In maths we have been learning about adding and taking away one, two and three, focusing on using a number line to help us. We have also been busy forming numerals to words, which is what we have been given to practice for homework too.

Our phonics is coming along well. Some of us have been busy writing sentences with CVC words and Set 2 sounds. Some of us have learnt the sounds a-e, i-e and o-e over the last few weeks.

We enjoy doing guided reading some afternoons now too- Miss Bhambra reads as well and we all try our best to read the words in the stories we choose.

In Science we had fun role-playing as weather reporters and using the weather symbols we learnt to guess the weather of different parts of the UK.

On Wednesday Zoolab came to visit and we were mega excited to see and hold a tarantula, snake, bearded dragon and some other creatures too.

Tomorow (Friday) we have a pantomime coming to visit us in the afternoon to tell us about road safety.

Enjoy the pictures!
