the first men on the moon...

Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 03 Apr 2019

This week we have continued having fun learning about Space!

In maths, we have been counting back from a given number, e.g. 12, 15 and 20 – all the way to zero and blasting off into space!  When I said I would be updating the website, Max told me to write “I really liked space maths this week.” We have been using objects to complete subtraction questions.  On Thursday and Friday we will be practising using a numberline to jump backwards to solve subtraction questions.

In topic, we have learnt about Buzz and Neil landing on the moon.  We have danced to ‘man on the moon’ and we have drawn pictures, and made paintings about the first moon landing.  We have made amazing space pictures using lots of coloured paper and glitter.

In literacy, we wrote about the first moon landing.  We have been focussing on improving the neatness of our handwriting and also improving our confidence to ‘have a go’ wriing without a grown up helping us to sound out the words.

In phonics most of us have been practising the trickier sounds – ay ee igh ow oo oo or ar ir ou oy air and reading words with them in.  We all have been practising the single letter sounds and writing simple words and sentences including them.
