A brilliant week in Reception
Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 29 Mar 2019
This week has been a very exciting week.
One of our highlights was watching the new nursery be lifted from a huge lorry by a big yellow crane! We were all jumping up and down with excitement! We took photos and wrote some sentences to record the momentous event!
Our main topic (despite the crane and lorry excitement) is Space and we have continued enjoying this learning. We used a variety of different sized cardboard boxes to make a gigantic space rocket and lots of us enjoyed painting and decorating it. We have also designed our own aliens some of them looked very funny indeed.
In maths we have been concentrating on counting backwards and completing simple subtraction questions. This is something that you could support your child with at home by giving them objects and asking them to remove the objects and count the remaining total.
As well as the teaching assistants hearing your children read every week, as teachers we
also endeavour to hear your children read - however we may like to hear your child read any day of the week therefore it would be handy if you could ensure that your child's reading book and reading record is in their bag everyday. Often we hear your children read but you won't see a record of it as unless the reading record is in their bag we are unable to make a comment in it for you to see.
Also if this warmer weather is here to stay, please make sure you apply some cream to your children before they start school and please make sure that they have a bottle of water and a sun hat.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to learning more about space next week, in particular, the moon. Please remember you are invited to our shared learning on Wednesday the 10th of April at 1:30pm and also there is an Easter bonnet Parade on Tuesday the 9th of April that starts at 2 p.m.
Kind Regards,
The reception team
