The Three Little Pigs
Mrs Divall - 16 Jun 2016
This week in phonics we have been recapping our set 2 sounds “ar”, “or” and “igh”. We have been thinking of and writing words that have these sounds in them, and writing simple sentences using these words.
We have been learning about the 3 Little Pigs in Literacy. We have been retelling the story, drawing the characters and doing some hot-seating, pretending to be the characters and asking each other questions. There are definitely some budding actors and actresses in Reception!
In maths we have been consolidating our understanding of recognising which numbers are bigger than others, counting to 100 and estimating.
Children have really enjoyed doing all different types of exploring during choosing time. We have been looking for mini-beasts in the garden, recreating the 3 Little Pigs story using playdough and using the counting people to count up in 5’s and 10’s. It’s been a week full of learning!
Tomorrow is my last placement day in Reception, I ca
n’t believe how fast this school year has gone! I have loved teaching and getting to know everybody in Reception and at Brady, they are a lovely class and I will miss them all lots! Next week, I will be having training in Stratford and after that I will be a fully qualified teacher, I can’t wait! To celebrate I will be jetting off to a nice short holiday in sunny Portugal :).
Thank you for all of your support as parents, I will see all of the children soon on the 14th July for their summer trip to Gray’s Beach! (Details to follow).
