The Gingerbread Man

Mrs Divall & Mrs Zaayman - 10 May 2019

Welcome back to May! We hope that you have had a great long weekend and that you got to enjoy the little snippets of sunshine that were about.

This week in Reception we have been continuing to read and explore Traditional Tales. Our focus story, this week, has been The Gingerbread Man. The children have worked hard to retell and sequence the story and they now know it well. They have tried to rewrite the story and they have used picture prompts where necessary. They have created 3D pictures focussing around the river that the Gingerbread Man had to cross and they have also drawn out their very own Gingerbread Man map. As a class, the children thought about the different places that the Gingerbread Man passed on his travels and the start and (tragic)end points. The children then used Bee Bots and programmed them to move from place to place-it was tricky but good fun!

In Maths they have started to share out objects practically and later in the week they will trying to divide objects between two (halving). You could practice this skill with your child by sharing things between yourselves and them equally.

We hope you have a fabulous weekend-lets hope for more sun!
