Miss Bates - 02 Dec 2022

Well done year 6 for a fantastic week!

We have been incredibly busy this week but I have been so impressed with how you have handled our hectic schedule.

In English this week, we have been using our plans of our non-chronological reports to write and edit our first drafts about the Polar Regions. These are looking great so far and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished results to these next week!

In maths, we have looked at multiplying and dividing with fractions and have recently moved onto finding a fraction of an amount. It’s been lovely to see how hard you have all been working during these lessons to further your knowledge. The homework sent home this week is to help consolidate this learning, but all children are welcomed to join homework club on either a Tuesday/ Wednesday lunch time if they need support to complete this. There is also optional work to go home on this topic if you would like to work on this with your child at home.

We enjoyed going on our class trip to the Docklands museum where we were able to find out more information about the lives of Victorians, which we have previously looked at. We also enjoyed the train/ DLR journey where we were able to look out of the window at the different things we could see. We will be using this in our recreation of the poem ‘From the Railway Carriage’.
As always, children are expected to read to an adult at home and be on TimesTable Rockstars for 10 minutes a day, 5 times a week. New spellings have gone out today as well as the homework relating to fractions (as mentioned above).

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
