Year 3 Week 1

06 Jun 2019

Literacy
This week Year 3 have been identifying the features of a non-chronological report and considering the purpose of these texts. The children were given the opportunity to research the animals that they would like to base their non-chronological reports on. They will be using this information to plan their reports and they have been really enthusiastic towards starting this.

Maths
In maths we have been focusing on adding and subtracting money. The children have worked really hard and are beginning to gain a good understanding. Extra practice has been sent home with your child and it would be great if you could support them to complete this. Next week we will be solving money word problems and developing our reasoning skills.

Topic
The children were really excited when they were introduced to our new topic, Predator! After learning about producers, consumers and decomposers, the children took part in a sorting activity with their peers. They worked well together to decide how the living things should be sorted and it was interesting to see how each group arranged them. This topic has encouraged lots of interesting and engaging discussions already!
