Pupil Blog

16 Apr 2015

Pupils will be uploading their thoughts and reflections on their time away as it happens. Please leave messages for your child in the comments box below.

Hi mum and dad,
We’ve just woken up and gone for a 1.5km jog without stopping with 7 other boys (all before 7am!).  Jogging keeps us fit, I found it easy (Raz), and I found it medium because I kept on running out of breath (Reece J).
Yesterday my best activity was sailing and archery.  I’ve never tried archery before, and after a few practices I found it quite easy and definitely want to try it again (Raz)
Yesterday my favourite activities were high ropes and archery, and most challenging for me to try.  After completing these I want to do them again now.  (Reece J)
Don’t worry about us because we’re having a lot of fun and we’re coming home today!  Today we have climbing, team challenge, and 4x4 Jeeps!  We are looking forward to seeing you all when you come to collect at 4pm (DON’T BE LATE – Mrs Robinson!)
I wish we could come back to Stubbers again, it’s all over too fast and we don’t want it to end!
Lots of Love,
Reece J and Razvan x

Hi mum and dad,
The first day at Stubbers was quite scary but fun at the same time.  We have done High Ropes, Sailing, Archery, and Bushcraft.  Louise and Katie got stuck in a bush when we were sailing because Morgan and Ellie crashed into our boat and Louise panicked so steered the wrong way into the bank.  We were screaming help, when Mr Bishop heard our scream so came over in his sailing boat to help.  He was almost our hero, but then the lifeguard came over and saved us with the speed boat.  We (Ella and Katie B) were sailing fast and then the wind took us really fast making the boat tip to one side and we almost fell in!  When we went on the High Ropes, Katie M’s harness got stuck and she panicked.  Ella volunteered to help her, so stepped out onto the beam to be a hero.
As you can see we have done lots today, overcome some fears and worked well together as friends.  Miss you and see you all tomorrow.
Lots of Love,
Katie B / Katie M / Ella / Louise xxxx J

Ps I got a bullseye in the Archery! (Ella and Katie B)

Last night when we got here, everyone was so hyperactive!  We found our rooms quickly and then went to the adventure playground and all had a great time.  We played rounders, 'it', and went on the zip wire. When we got back to the lodge, everyone was very tired so we settled down and watched Paddington with LOTS of sweets.  As soon as the film ended we went staright to bed, but it was hard for us to get to sleep because we weren't at home.  Some of my friends got a bit homesick but they finally got to sleep after Mr Bishop (Jon!) and Mrs Barlett settled them.

We were up SO early the next morning that we woke most of the lodge up.  We went for a jog around the lake with Jon.  When we got back we were so tired but happy to be served a full English Breakfast.

We've done lots of fun activities today. My favourite one has been High Ropes... On the high ropes I got very scared but I soon finished the course after a lot of encouragement from the teachers and my friends.  I didn't like sailing as I constantly felt like I was going to fall in when the boat kept tipping.  Me and Dan kept on cuddling each other!

Must go now as I need to get changed ready for the campfire (oh no not Mrs Bartletts Ghost Stories!!)

Bye mum and dad, love you lots

Alfie

Last night when I got here I was suprised to find out we were getting an evening meal!  It was chips, chicken and sweetcorn, with profiteroles (with chocolate sauce) for afters!!  Although we went to bed at 10pm, we didn't sleep until 2am because we kept chatting to each other.

Today we were slow to get up because we were tired!  I have been Sailing, Highropes, Archery, but my favorite has been Bush craft.  We made fires with flint and steel, however when the instructor tried to put out our fire it took him a long time because we'd made it so big!

My 'smile-o-meter' reading has been 10 since getting here (apart from sailing!).

I have to go now, dinner and bonfire - I'm so excited. Love you lots and see you on Friday mummy and daddy,

Hannah

Hi Raz!!! This is the very first time when you are away without any of us...your little brother David had few tears on his face in the morning saying that he is missing you a lot. Just want to let you know that our spring project of hatching eggs brought us a new family member at about 10 PM last night...a black noisy very cute chick with bear neck (exactly how you wanted). Raz, we hope you have great time there. Lots of love: mummy, daddy, David, Tagi, grandma and the baby chick :)
