Spring 1 Week 1

10 Jan 2019

Hello and welcome back to school! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas break. This week we have started our new topic 'Off with her head'. The children are really enjoying learning about the Tudors. We have started by looking at Henry VIII and why he decided to have so many wives. I am looking forward to teaching the children about this area of history as they are already so enthusiastic.

In Maths this week, the children have started the term off by learning about fractions. They have learned how to multiply fractions by whole numbers, solve problems involving fractions and have started to understand the relationship between percentage, fraction and decimal numbers.

In Literacy, we are first focussing on biographical writing, with the aim to write a biography about King Henry VIII. The children have already looked at Shakespeare's biography to find key features and information. They have also been recapping using brackets, dashes and commas for parenthesis in their writing.
