Spring 1 Week 1

02 May 2019

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break, it has been great to be back and get started with a brand new half term!

Literacy
In Literacy this week, we have started a new unit on Narrative Poetry. We have looked at the Jabberwocky together. The children used this poem to help them identify poetic conventions and learned about portmanteau. The children used the Jabberwocky to create their own imitation poem. Next week, the class will begin planning their own narrative poem and writing one in their hot write,

Maths
In Maths we have started the half term with Multiplication and Division. This week we have revisited multiples, factors and prime numbers. We have used our understanding to solve problems with these.

Topic
Our topic this half term is Beast Creator. We will be learning about the life cycles of different types of animals and the reproduction of plants. This week we have looked at how flowers use the wind and insects to help their reproduction. Thank you to all of you who have brought in jars for our investigation next week!
