Spring 2 week 2

07 Mar 2019

This has been an exciting week for Year 5, with all the fun of World Book Day! The children looked fantastic in their costumes and enjoyed visiting a new teacher for each session.

Literacy
In Literacy this week, we have been continuing with our character descriptions. We have been looking at the introduction of the character Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and how Roald Dahl effectively describes his personality through his actions and appearance. We have also planned our own characters for a character descrption. Embedded clauses and parenthesis have been revisited to ensure our writing is more interesting.

Maths
In Maths this week, we have been looking at measurement, more specifically units of time. At the beginning of the week, the children converted units of measure for time. They then applied this learning to problem solving. The children have also been interpreting and completeing tables and time tables.

Topic

This week we have worked hard in our Science lessons to understand the changes the body goes through to reach adulthood. The children have had some insightful questions about the experiences they will experience and were very respectful of each other's views.
