Spring 2 week 1

28 Feb 2019

Hello everyone and a big welcome back to school. I hope you all had a lovely half term in the sunshine last week!

Literacy
In Literacy this week, we have been looking at character descriptions. We have looked at the way famous authors, such as Lemony Snickett and Roald Dahl, show the personality of their characters by describing their actions, thoughts, interests and appearance. We wrote about the character of Willy Wonka, and some children wrote their own descriptions of the famous literary figure.

Maths
In maths, we have been working on our artihmetic skills. The children have consolidated their learning of counting in powers of 10 and their understanding of rounding numbers. They have also been recapping how to use partitioning to add and subtract numbers.

Topic
Our new topic his half term is called Time Traveller. In this unit of work, we will be learning about animals including humans and their life cycles. This week we have looked at the different stages of the human life cycle, and how humans change and develop at each stage.
