Migration Researchers

25 Nov 2016

This week, children have become researchers, discovering interesting facts about animals which migrate, using books and websites to develop their knowledge.

They have discovered many interesting facts and here is a sample of those:

Elephant seals can hold their breath under water for 2 hours

African elephants, during their migration are led by a matriarch who navigates using her memory.

Bar-tailed godwits use the sun and stars to navigate during their migration.

Reindeers can run upto 35 mph.

Leatherback turtles can weigh upto 900kg.

Bar-headed geese gets their name from the 3 black bars which are on the side of their face.
