Year 3 Week 7
11 Apr 2019
Literacy
This week Year 3 have continued with their non-chronological reports about the Stone Age. They have been busy planning their writing and trying hard to improve this ready for their ‘hot write’. Throughout the week, they have been focusing on including a range of conjunctions, correctly using ‘a’ and ‘an’ and including headings and subheadings. They will then be using their writing to create an information leaflet.
Maths
In Maths we have been recapping telling the time on an analogue clock. The children have been working really hard on this and it would be great if you could support your child with telling the time at home too. We also began to compare lengths of time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours. Next half term we will be focusing on fractions and properties of shapes.
Topic
This week we have been looking at the Bronze Age. We found out why it was called the Bronze Age, what bronze is made of and how weapons were made using bronze. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Stone Age and Bronze Age this half term.
Next half term our new topic will be ‘Tremors’. The children will learn about volcanoes, earthquakes and rocks. In Literacy our focus text will be ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’.
Enjoy the Easter break!
