Year 3 Week 2
07 Mar 2019
Year 3 have had a great week and I loved their World Book Day costumes! For World Book Day the children visited each class teacher and participated in various activities related to reading and stories. Some of the activities included: creating illustrations of dreams in a jar from the BFG, creating stories through dance and movement, hot seating and retelling stories using props.
In maths this week the children have really enjoyed learning about finding fractions of amounts. They have been using visual and abstract representations to find their answers. Additional practise will be sent home on Friday. Next week we will be recognising that tenths arise from dividing an object into 10 equal parts.
In literacy we have started to read ‘Stone Age Boy’. The book raised lots of discussions and the children were enthusiastic to read more of the story. Year 3 have been identifying the features of the story and creating character and setting descriptions. Next week we will be planning a story based on the ‘Stone Age Boy’, creating story mountains and story boards.
