Year 3 TV and a walk around Pompeii
Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 16 May 2018
This week we have been busy in Year 3 learning about Pompeii. We have been writing a story consisting of three chapters about the disaster. The children have their last chapter to finish with Mrs Zaayman tomorrow, but I have included a sneaky peak at the beginning and middle of some!
We walked around Pompeii (our hall) and visited the Forum, Ampitheatre, Collosseum, Roman baths, chariot racing. SOME OF US EVEN SAW A FIGHT TO THE DEATH! We also acted out the volcanic eruption using everybody in our class, using technical vocabulary to label the parts of a volcano.
We have been researching and writing a TV documentary about the 'Deadliest' volcanoes and earthquakes, based on the Deadly 60 format.
In maths, we have been practising column addition and subtraction. I have noticed that some children are not confident in recalling quick multiplication facts. Please can you ensure you practise these at home as they are a key skill that some children are struggling without! Especially the 2's, 5's and 10's!
I have included some multiplication and division word problems to be sent home on Friday to help reinforce this practise.
