This week in year 3..
09 Oct 2015
This week in Topic we have been learning all about the 2011 Japanese tsunami. The children used this in their writing to write a description of what it would have been like to be there, as well as a news report on the event.
Below is a description by Phoebe White, who read her work out loud in assembly this morning. Well done Phoebe!
"I was in school, I was ready to do my lesson. When then there was a massive loud rumble, until... A loud hit. Then I just shook like a little doll. Then all the books fell down, our tables were jumping about. Now I knew it was an earthquake. After my face went as white as a sheep coat. My face always goes straight when I'm scared. Wow I need to drop, cover and hold on. After a while it stopped. I was relieved. But that was not the end...
Now it was a tsunami!!! I was the first one to race to the window. It was a risk if we would die. Now all of us were devastated because the tsunami was 10 meters high also it was 500 miles per hour. After Arsene fainted. Later he woke up but now we have a bigger problem. As I looked out cars were flipped. Is the tsunami too powerful? Will this be the end? A quarter of the class were hanging onto Miss West. Is my life ending?"
A very tense and suspenseful read by Phoebe!
I would also like to say well done to all those children who wrote fantastic poems for their homework last week. These poems were very impressive and have been written up in best to be put on display!
