Spring Two
Mr Armitage - 26 Feb 2016
I hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing half-term break.
Writing this now, it feels like we have never been away! Our learning this week has been very exciting and interesting!
In Literacy we have been looking at the text ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Juila Donaldson. The children are enjoying the story. The visual pictures are enabling to write some lovely descriptive sentences. Our aim for next week is to write our own stories based on Juila Donaldson’s book. What animals will be chosen?
In Maths we have been developing our understanding of subtraction by ‘counting back’. The practical activities have allowed the children to work well together in small groups to demonstrate their learning. Many children have wanted to demonstrate their learning to the rest of the class. I see many ‘budding’ teachers in this class.
In Science this week, we have been asked to choose a suitable material for Teddy to use for a table. The carousel of the investigation enabled the children to test out the suitability of different materials. The investigations are becoming an exciting part of our week and the children are enjoying this practical approach to learning.
Next Thursday is World Book Day. Our story is Snow White. Please see the posters displayed on our classroom doors for ideas and suggestions for coming in a costume. We chose this book as it contains lots of simple costumes and we wanted to make it a slightly less stressful evening for parents next Wednesday!
As always, thank you so much for your continued support and enthusiasm.
Have a lovely weekend.
