Sum 1 Week 5- Mmm Sandwiches!

In literacy this week we were so lucky we got to make our own sandwiches, yum! We have been focussing a LOT on our phonics. After we made our sandwiches we wrote instructions on what to do, writing in steps and using the key vocabulary.

Just a reminder to ensure your children practice their spellings at home every week- we have a spelling test every Thursday.

Apologies as we did not make it to the library this week- we were just so busy finally beginning to make our moving vehicles! A huge thank you to all parents who brought in recycled objects for us to use- the children have enjoyed the vast range of boxes, bottles etc.

In maths we have been learning about capacity and experimented how much water/sand different sized containers can hold.

Our butterflies have finally hatched! We now have 3 :). It's been very interesting watching their lifecycle.

If any parents would like to hear children in Year 1 read, please speak to Miss Bhambra after half term. We are looking for some parents to come in on Tuesday/ Thursday afternoons to hear some children in our class practice their lovely reading.

Also, I will be travelling to the Isle of Wight on Monday with Year 6! Which means Mr. Carricker will be teaching year 1 next week. So have a lovely half-term in advance!

Lastly, year 1's class assembly will be on 9th June at 2:30pm. All parents/carers in Year 1 are invited and you are welcome to stay after the assembly to come to class and see some of your children's books and work.
