This week in Reception

Mrs Divall & Mrs Zaayman - 28 Sep 2018

We have had another full and fabulous week. This week we focussed on autumn time. We have been on Bug Hunts, where we have found some really ‘disgusting’ things- in the words of Edward who found some tree sap! We have made mud in our mud kitchen and loved every minute of getting muddy and dirty. Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman also treated the class with their vocal talents by sharing some of their beloved Harvest Festival songs- a favourite being ‘Conkers’. The children then made some harvest shakers and enjoyed shake, shake, shaking away to some of their new favourite songs.

In Phonics the children have been learning the sounds d, t and i this week and their homework reflects this. Please remember we do not need your homework in, it is for you to work through with your child so that you can see what they are doing and what they understand.

We have been consolidating our number knowledge again this week in a variety of ways, using a variety of different equipment. Please note that we are holding a Maths Workshop after school on Monday 1st at 3.20pm where you will get to look at how different aspects of Maths are approached in Reception and get a go at trying some activities yourself.

Can we please remind you to put your child’s library book in their bag by Thursday so that it can be changed weekly. Also please do remember that the days are getting a little colder now so it really is important that all children come to school with a coat (with their name in) and with wellies (to be left in school) so that they can enjoy the outdoor learning environment- no matter the weather.

The children took part in their first 5-a-day where they dance along for 5minutes in an attempt to help keep them all fit and healthy. They also did another P.E lesson where we moved around the hall in different ways to reflect the changing seasons.

On Tuesday 2nd October 2018 it is our first school trip. We are happy for parents to attend but have very limited seats on the coach, therefore you are welcome to meet us at The Guffalo Trail at 9.45am(ish)- please make a member of the team aware if you intend to do this. We do have a few seats on the coach that we can make available to parents but this will have to be allocated on a first come, first serve basis so please let us know on Monday if you would like one of these- there are 5 in total.

Wishing you all the very best weekend- rest and enjoy!

Mrs Divall, Mrs Zaayman, Mrs Agates and Miss Hunt.
