Traditional tales

Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 14 May 2019

On Monday, we decorated gingerbread men to celebrate our learning about the story from last week.

This week we are learning about the Elves and the shoemaker.

We have heard the story and retold it to our friends.  We have been looking at different types of shoes and some children enjoyed trying them on too.  We are also going to write a thank you card from the elves to the shoemakers to say thank you for the clothes, design a beautiful shoe and write some sentences to describe it and draw the elves and the shoemaker’s family and write some simple sentences about it.

In Maths, the children are being taught to count in 2’s using pairs of shoes, pairs of socks and pairs of objects. We will also be making clothes for the elves, stitching around some shoe templates and setting up a shoe shop role play.

Chicken Pox - a number of children are currently off ill with this. If your child has or gets chicken pox, they should remain off school for about 5 days from the onset of the rash/spots.  Once the spots have crusted over and no new ones appear, your child can return to school if they feel well enough.
