Year 3 Week 2

17 Jan 2019

Maths

This week the children have moved on from the grid method to multiply and are now using the column method. The children have been really enthusiastic and seemed to have grasped this method quickly! Next week we will be focusing answering missing number problems for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Towards the end of the week, the children will be putting their skills to the test in a maths investigation.

Literacy

This week the children have been looking at the features of a diary and considering how they could use their senses to add more detail to their writing. The children explored using fronted adverbials to add more detail too.

Topic

During computing, the children used their results from their experiment last week to create a chart. In D&T they designed parachutes selecting appropriate materials. Next week, we will be making these and testing them in an investigation to see what happens when they are dropped from different heights.
