Sum 2 Week 2- Phonics phonics phonics!

15 Jun 2017

Our phonics screening test was this week and we were incredible! All of the adults in the class and around the school are so proud of how well Year 1 did. Thank you for your co-operation and for practicing with the children at home. Yippeeeeee! As a treat Miss Nicholls bought us all an ice pole and we enjoyed them in the sunshine.

In RE we have been working on role-models and people who influence our lives both in and out of school.

In Science we made our own rain gauges! We will be measuring rainfall over the next couple of weeks, although the weather has been far too lovely and as for now they remain empty.

In maths the children simply blew me away with their quick grasp to multiplication. I cannot express how proud I was of the class- they can all multiply in 2s 5s and 10s, using towers made of cubes as visual support. WOW!

In topic we have been reading a book called "Lila and the Secret of Rain". We researched Africa and presented posters with facts we learnt about Africa.

Its been a busy but goooood week :)
