Spr 2 Week 3- Celebrating Science!

13 Mar 2017

Sorry it’s late! Last week in phonics we were learning words with the ch, sh and tch sounds in them.

In maths we have been working on shapes and learning what ½, ¼ and even ¾’s mean when equally splitting shapes in different ways. We have also been practising our doubling skills and number bonds to 8, 9, 10, 20 and 30! We are beginning to learn the inverse of sums.

In Literacy we have been reading Gigantosaurus. We have been really focussing on using adjectives and conjunctions and making sure our writing makes sense. We have begun editing our work to ensure it makes sense and we are learning new suffixes and prefixes every week.

In Handwriting Miss Bhambra challenged us to try and write joint up! We found this difficult but fun to try and learn.

Friday was Science Day!! Children enjoyed conducting 2 experiments and writing up their predictions, methods and conclusions. Have a look at the pictures below.

Thank you to Daisy’s parents for bringing in some Lupin seeds! Mr Carricker and the children enjoyed planting them in our very own patch in the Reception garden, and we will water them in the hope that they will grow.

Following on from learning about plants, children created beautiful flowers and trees by working patiently with tissue paper in Art. We were very impressed with our budding artists.

I look forward to meeting with parents/carers on the Parent’s evenings this week.

Miss Bhambra
