Reception News
Mrs Divall - 06 Nov 2015
Dear Parents and Carers,
This half term is called ‘Celebrations.’ We will be focussing on Fireworks night, Diwali, Weddings and Christmas. We’ll also be meeting the Gruffalo again in ‘The Gruffalo’s Child,’ and my personal favourite, ‘Stick Man’!
PE will continue to be on a Wednesday afternoon. Please could you ensure your child has a PE Kit for these lessons (black plimsolls, blue Brady top and shorts) Our PE lessons for this half term will be in the hall, so you don’t need to worry about tracksuit bottoms or jumpers.
If you would like your child to have milk, please remember to sign up on the coolmilk website. You only have to pay if your child has turned 5, but you still have to sign up for them to get it. All children have the opportunity to eat a piece of fruit each day at snack time. If your child doesn’t want milk, it’s nice for them to have a clearly labelled water bottle to drink out of.
We are looking forward to some exciting events this half term. We’ll be off on the coach to see ‘The Stick Man’ theatre show on 9th December and we also have a pantomime company coming into school to present ‘Peter Pan’ during the Christmas period.
This half term we are very lucky to have Miss Bhambra joining us as part of her trainee teaching placement. Our reception team are very much looking forward to helping Miss Bambra train as she has chosen to specialise in the Early years, which is of course our favourite!
We have BRICS on Friday this week, this time themed as ‘Fireworks.’ Watch the website for some photos.
Reading books will continue to be changed on your child’s assigned day, and library books will continue to be changed on a Tuesday. Homework will be collected on a Thursday and sent out again on a Friday. I have told the children that they will win a prize once they have completed 10 pieces of homework, so keep going – home learning is important and it will be rewarded!
Last but not least, parents evening will be held on 23rd and 24th November. A letter will be sent out nearer the time with signing up slots. Also, the Reception nativity show will happen during the last week of school – date to be released soon. There may be limited seating available so watch out for letters containing information on this special event!
We’re all ready for a fun, hard-working and big learning half term…it’s good to be back!
Kind regards,
Mrs Divall
